Hearing aid service repairs and maintenance, What You Need to Know.


Hearing aids are tiny, powerful, and essential for staying connected to the world around you. But like any device used daily, they can occasionally stop working the way they should. The good news? Most hearing aid issues are fixable.


Common Hearing Aid Problems:

1. No Sound or Very Low Volume

Usually caused by:

  • Blocked wax filters

  • Clogged microphone ports

  • Dead batteries or power issues

  • Dead receiver, or a broken wire


2. Intermittency or Distorted Audio

  • Moisture buildup

  • Loose tubing (for BTE models)

  • Damaged receivers or speakers

  • Internal component wear


3. Feedback or Whistling

Often related to:

  • Poor fit

  • Blocked vents

  • Increase in earwax in the canal


4. Physical Damage

Examples:

  • Broken battery doors

  • Bent or cracked shells

  • Damaged microphones

  • Chewed devices (thanks, pets!)

Some are as easy as a general cleaning by a technician, other's may require additional expertise and may require the hearing aid to be sent in to the manufacturer for repair.
